Cheat Sheet: Events Categorization

There are five types of events that should be logged on Platform. In PiDash, we visualize events by meeting type, so it’s crucial to log events under the correct meeting type and category. Important note: All events must include location type: virtual vs. in-person. 

Category

How they will appear in PiDash

Pair Events: These are planned curricular group events

  • Meeting type: Pair Event
  • Category: 
    1. Curricular
    2. Non-curricular
    3. Graduation

Pair events will appear in PiDash as green bars.

 


Make Up Events: These are one-off group events

  • Meeting type: Pair Event
  • Category: Curricular
  • Meeting Description needs to include the phrase “Make Up Event” either at the beginning or end of the description to make it distinct from Pair Events

Group make up events will appear in PiDash as orange bars.

Pair Meeting: These are one-off supervised 1:1 pair meetings

  • Meeting type: Pair Meeting
  • Categories
    1. Academic Support
    2. Personal Support
    3. Career Support
    4. Curricular Event Make-Up
    5. Advising Session
    6. Other

Pair meetings will appear in PiDash as blue bars.

 


Pair Expeditions: These one-off unsupervised 1:1 pair meeting

  • Meeting type: Pair Expedition
  • Purposes:
    1. College Visit
    2. College Support
    3. Recreational Activity
    4. Workplace Visit
    5. Career Support
    6. Other

Pair expeditions will appear in PiDash as yellow bars.

 


 

 

                                                     

Mentor Event : These are for mentor only events

  • Meeting type: Mentor Event
  • Categories:
    1. Mentor Community
    2. Mentor Huddle
    3. Mentor Training-General

Mentor events are not visualized in PiDash.

 

Check for understanding: If one pair is completing a make-up event during lunch, then should this event be categorized as a Pair Event or Pair Meeting? 


Answer: Pair Meeting because it’s not a group event. It’s a 1:1, one-off, & supervised.
