SEL - Self-Awareness – Unit 1
This Self-Awareness Unit is created specifically for iMentor Partner Programs. Rooted in the CASEL framework, students will dig into who they are through the scaffolded creation of a Self-Awareness Scrapbook using Jamboard. Through the Jamboard, students will be introduced to a method of self-reflection that, if taken seriously in an environment that embraces vulnerability and values self-discovery, will offer them tools for unpacking and inventorying specific pieces of their “self” including their values, roles, emotions, strengths, growth areas, and their identity. Their mentor plays a crucial role as sounding board as they will share their progress with this trusted adult every step of the way.
A crucial element to this work is the pre-work for the facilitator. The facilitator must do each lesson's activity before presenting to students.
Please note: Some lessons reference matters related to sexuality and gender.
