The primary purpose of the Mentees and Mentors Dashboard of the Program Engagement Tableau workbook is to provide case managers (i.e., Program Managers, Match Support Specialists, etc.) with detailed information regarding pairs' online engagement. This dashboard can be leveraged to:
- identify trends in online engagement across mentees and mentors
- back into mentee or mentor focused online engagement strategies based on pair behavior by class
- create focus lists based on pair online engagement data
This interface can facilitate extremely targeted conversations regarding why pair online engagement looks the way it does and support the creation of tight focus lists for targeted engagement support.
NOTE: This article frequently references program engagement benchmarks. Learn more about these benchmarks here.
Mentees and Mentors Dashboard Guide
There are 3 main elements on the Cohort and Class Dashboard, each of which is identified and described below.
1 - Pair Count, Filters and Legend
The pair count is presented in the top right-hand corner of the dashboard to provide context for the values displayed.
Filters are operated by clicking on the arrow within each box and selecting one or more value. Filters limit the data being displayed. Since the primary consumers of this particular dashboard are case managers, the dashboard is most effectively used by engaging one or more filters. The example above is filtered to a single case manager, and therefore only shows data for the pairs assigned to her. In this case, the dashboard would be helpful in providing the case manager with a detailed representation of online pair engagement, split by mentees and mentors.
2 - Week-Over-Week Lesson Engagement
This line graph visualizes the percentage of mentees and mentors, respectively, meeting the online engagement benchmark each week throughout the course of the program year, by cohort. The most recent point on the graph reflects up to date data regarding how the iMentor city/Partner Program is trending at the end of the current week (the upcoming Sunday).
3 - Lesson Engagement Benchmark Year-to-Date
This table shows the percentage of mentees, mentors and pairs meeting the online engagement benchmark as of the end of the previous week (the previous Sunday).
Leveraging the Mentees and Mentors Dashboard
Below, a few strategies for leveraging the Mentees and Mentors Dashboard are listed with brief explanations. To learn more about the strategy, click the link.
- Identify mentee and mentor level trends in online engagement
- Are mentees out-performing mentors or vice versa? This is a great indication of where your efforts to support increased engagement might be spent.
- Create a class-based incentive strategy
- In order to increase mentee online engagement, generate a competition between classes to see which group of students can improve the most over a period of time.
