This article outlines applicant responsibilities for ensuring they successfully pass a background check in each region.

NYC GoPass:

Once a member of the NYC screening team creates a volunteer profile with GoPass, the applicant will receive this automated email from GoPass directing them to activate their account with DOE’s Applicant Gateway. Screening also invites they initiate their account and schedule their fingerprinting appointment in their fingerprinting instructional email.

There is no cost to the applicant for fingerprinting, iMentor covers the $43 fee. Applicants how choose to be fingerprinted at an Identogo location outside of New York are responsible for the %30 out of state fingerprinting fee.  Unless otherwise specified, all GoPass visits need to be by appointment at many  Identogo location throughout NYC and Westchester County. Times offered are typically Mondays through Saturdays, with latest appointments after 6:00pm in some locations. Screeners strongly encourage applicants to complete their forms before attending their fingerprinting appointment.  Applicants should tell screeners once their fingerprinting is complete so they may track progress.

If the DOE requires any additional information from applicants, they will be contacted directly by the GoPass Investigator. iMentor does NOT receive details about any applicant’s background check except whether they are eligible, ineligible, or have an investigation pending.  The Senior Volunteer Screening Manager for NYC receives all status updates and reflects those in Salesforce. 

Chicago:

Chicago volunteers complete CPS’s Fingerprinting Background Investigation Authorization & Release Form, which is provided to them at orientation. They should then bring the completed form with them to any Accurate Biometrics location to be fingerprinted as a volunteer for iMentor. At the end of their session, they’ll receive a receipt with their TCN on it. They should send the TCN number via email to their Screener—either type it out in an email or send a photo—so the Screening Team can keep track of their results. 

There is no cost to the applicant for fingerprinting. iMentor covers the $59 cost for fingerprinting and the $10 cost for reprints.

Baltimore:

Baltimore volunteers are fingerprinted by appointment at Bith Group, an independent vendor. Applicants must bring a government-issued photo ID to their fingerprinting appointment, along with this completed form. iMentor covers the cost for fingerprinting and reprints. The Volunteer Screening Manager for Baltimore receives all applicant status updates and reflects those in Salesforce.
