Partnership Costs and Fundraising Support

Learn about the costs associated with becoming an iMentor partner as well as the resources we provide to support your fundraising efforts.

iMentor Partnership Fees

Partners will sign multi-year contracts with iMentor to underwrite the cost of iMentor’s support. Upon signing the initial contract, partners will enter a 2.5 year renewable partnership with iMentor. The initial contract period includes a planning phase of 6 months at minimum and 2 full years of programming for a total of $140K paid over that timeframe. The year-by-year breakdown for partners is as follows:

  • $20,000 for the planning phase, January– June 2019
    • $5K non-refundable fee due upon signing contract
    • Remaining balance due on February 15, 2019

  • $60,000 for the first year of program operation, July 2019 – June 2020
    • Due on July 15, 2019

  • $60,000 for the second year of program operation, July 2020 – June 2021
    • Due on July 15, 2020

After the term of the initial contract, the annual renewal rate is $35,000 per year for up to 1,000 matches with an additional $5,000 for each additional 1,000 matches. 

Program Management Expenses

In addition to the iMentor partnership fees, there are other required expenses to operate the iMentor program. The following items represent the estimated costs that iMentor Partners incur (estimates are for a program with 50 pairs). The actual cost of each item may vary based on region, organizational structure, and funding source.

Staffing

  • Program Manager (supports up to 75 -100 mentor-mentee pairs)
    • Salary is typically $35,000 – $45,000 plus benefits (comparable to a 1st teacher salary)
  • Additional pro-rated staff salaries and benefits for management and adminstrative support
    • Dependent on roles, organizational structure, and program size (e.g. program supervision, volunteer management staff, fund development staff)

Mentor screening

Background checks and fingerprinting: $60 - $90 per volunteer

Monthly event implementation (typically 10 events/year)

  • Food: $10 per match per event or approximately $100 per match per year
  • Supplies
  • Transportation for students to get home from events; approximately $200+/event (if applicable) 
  • School security for monthly events (if applicable)

Incidentals

$5 - 10 per individual participant  $500

Travel and accommodations for 2 – 3 staff to attend biannual trainings

  • New Partner Orientation in New York City in February 2017 (2-3 days)
  • Program Staff Training in the summer (dates and location TBD; 2-3 days)

Support for your Fundraising Efforts

By adopting a nationally recognized post-secondary model that achieves strong results and provides consistent outcomes data, our partners have discovered that partnering with iMentor has enabled them to inaugurate new and grow existing local, state and national funding sources targeted at post-secondary attainment, mentoring, education, and workforce development. We strongly encourage our non-school district partners to secure designated funds through school districts and/or partner schools.
